This guide has been generated to assist you in the preparation of your building permit submittal for your Pre-Approved ADU. follow the steps outlined below.

  • To utilize City of El Paso’s Pre-Approved ADU Plans, your property must meet the following requirements:

    • ADUs are permitted in all residential zoning districts that allow single-family dwellings

    • One (1) ADU is allowed per lot with one (1) single-family dwelling

    • Maximum ADU Size - The lesser of:

      • 700 square feet, or

      • 50% of the gross floor area of the primary dwelling (excluding garages and carports)

    • ADU must be located at least 10 feet from the primary dwelling
