fast tracks & setbacks

We developed the Housing Match activity to ground participants in real world scenarios depicting personas of current residents and ‘missing middle’ housing types.

Persona cards share information regarding age, income, job type and the percentage of El Paso residents that this card represents. Additional lifestyle details are provided to further paint the picture that this is a real person, with relatable decisions to make.

Housing cards represent single-family housing types and missing middle housing types. All housing developments in El Paso face challenges with being able to be developed at a cost affordable to residents. Missing middle housing, makes up a very small percentage of housing in El Paso, because of these challenges.

To learn more about these challenges and how we are working towards increasing production and diversity of housing, check out the Housing Strategy under Envision El Paso and the Housing Needs Assessment.

This activity was facilitated with residents, community based organizations, city leadership and neighborhood associations to identify strategies to include in the Housing Strategy, as part of the comprehensive plan update, Envision El Paso.
